By 1775, the colonies were officially “over it all.” The Stamp Act, taxes, and the whole “pay up but don’t vote” routine stopped being a complaint and turned into a dare.

The Boston Tea Party sent a clear “F you” to the King, and when British troops marched on Lexington and Concord, the locals answered with gunfire.
